Fall 2016 Event Tips & Trends

Though the 90-degree temperature in Memphis was no indication, September 22 was indeed the first day of fall. Thankfully it's finally starting to cool off.

Just like the weather, event trends change with the season, and there are a few in particular that have us falling in love.

Jewel Tones

Pantone’s fall 2016 palette resembles the inside of the Medina in Marrakech, with rich and exotic jewel-toned colors. According to Leatrice Eisemen, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, the palette was inspired by "the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism." The cooler temperatures of fall often inspire warm colors, but these jewel-toned hues can breathe a little life into your event, while still keeping in mind the traditional feel of fall tones.

Natural Elements

Leaves, vines, an indoor garden, ivy covered pieces and more. There is something to be said for bringing the outdoors into your indoor event. Not only is it beautiful, but also it can be pretty inexpensive – especially if you pick your pieces from the wooded area behind your house! Simply knot olive leaves and/or ferns together and run them across the table to create a dramatic and festive centerpiece.

Interactive Displays

Creating an interactive food or drink station is a great to make your guests to feel like they are playing an active role in the event – and it helps to break the ice. A s’more station is a perfect option for this time of year (or any time of year. Who doesn’t love s’mores?). Another idea would be to offer up everyone’s favorite fall beverage – a pumpkin spice latte. Guests can use pumpkin purée, spices, vanilla, espresso, sugar and as much, or as little, whipped cream as they want for a delicious taste of fall.

Autumnal Accents

Whether you’re hosting a corporate event, a trade show or a wedding, have a little fun with it and tie in a fall holiday. Orange pumpkins and leaves are fall décor staples, but your fall-themed event doesn’t have to stop there. Painted gourds and pine-cones, cornucopias and bales of hay (it’s not just for horses) can easily be incorporated into an event to give it that fall feel.
