Arts Memphis and Royal Studios

If Memphis is known for anything, it's memorable music and fantastic food. Arts Memphis' Mad & Hungry Culinary Arts series has fused the two together to promote the vibrant art of our community with our insanely delicious cuisine.

Mahaffey Tent and Events had the pleasure of designing and providing the rentals for their February dinner, Taste Your Soul, at the historic recording studio, Willie Mitchell's Royal Studios. Royal Studios is nationally and historically recognized most recently for Bruno Mars recording Uptown Funk there. It's a Memphis Arts treasure.

Arts Memphis is dedicated to raising funds to ensure excellence in the arts and build a vibrant cultural community for everyone. The sold out Taste Your Soul event is testament to their hard work.

Mahaffey supplied all rentals to turn the recording studio into a rustic and soulful venue for the night.

We used an infusion of mixed metals and organic surfaces on all tables with stainless steel table toppers, mirrored tables with earthy colored linen, our Wood Farm Tables, gold sequins, and a pop of gold poly cotton linen to round out the pallet!! Our Farm Chairs were used for all the seating to keep the organic vibe!!

All plating was kept clean and white using a mix of Oxford Dinner plates, Korean soup bowls, 6.5 Oxford plates, and our hammered flatware which is rustic and organic in feel!!

So many others had a hand in making this event so amazing. Parke Kennedy with Arts Memphis is the head of Donor Relations. Paula DeClerk with DeClerk Wray Designs created the brilliant floral designs.

Chefs Brown Burch, Erik Proveaux (Fuel Food Truck, Fuel Café), Angus Brown (Lusca, Octopus Bar – Atlanta, GA) and Heather Ries (Ladybugg Bakery & Café, Hernando, MS) and stylist Augusta Campbell (Memphis Magazine, Laurelwood Shopping Center) teamed up for a soulful, Memphis-style meal to remember.

Thanks to Donny Granger of Creation Studios for the fabulous photos of the event. Scroll through the gallery to see all the attendees and donors and the impressive history and soul of Royal Studios itself.
